Three Cat Productions Brings Children's Theatre Camps to Skokie Theatre

Three Cat Productions is excited to announce Three Cat Education and "A Summer in the Theater" programs that will be offered at Skokie Theatre Music Foundation beginning in June 2010. Lead by Jacque Lueken, Three Cat Education Executive Director, "A Summer in the Theater" offers children and teens an opportunity to experience the world of theater and cabaret in a safe nurturing environment. Exploring musicals, plays, cabaret, and show choir, our camps teach kids the fundamentals of performance with potential opportunities to appear in one of Three Cat Productions "Cabaret Concerts" as well as in venues throughout the Chicagoland area.

Jacque Lueken, the Executive Director of Three Cat Education, is teaching the majority of the classes available. She is excited to return to the North Shore having recently worked with TYA at Apple Tree and the Eileen Boevers Performing Arts Workshop as a director and teaching artist. Lueken moved to Chicago after receiving her BFA in Acting from Syracuse University to work as the Assistant Coordinator for The School at Steppenwolf and has since worked in theatre education with numerous.

"The Three Cat Education summer camps are a chance to inspire kids in the ways that I was inspired as a kid," states Lueken. "The camps provide a chance for these kids to spark an interest in theater and to make life long friendships."

"A Summer in the Theater" at the Skokie Theatre Music Foundation runs from June 14th to August 20th, 2010. This year's camp includes the U.S. premiere of "Cinderella" by the British composer Ric Brutnall, "Let Me Enterain You!" a celebration of Broadway classics, "Broadway Rocks!" a celebration of the Broadway pop/classics, the student created play "Choose Your Own Fairytale Adventure!", and the "Golly Gee Glee" show choir camp. Camps vary in length from one to four weeks, making it easy to accommodate to any family's summer schedule.

"Cinderella" (June 14th-July 9th, 2010) kicks off our summer camp series. Kids will join our professional staff on stage in this national premiere of 'Cinderella', featuring 4 original songs by composer Ric Brutnall. Campers will showcase their acting, singing and dancing talents in this 4 week camp structured with classes and rehearsals that culminates in productions on the Skokie Theatre stage. The camp will be on Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. Campers will be in performances on Friday, July 9th at 5pm and Saturday, July 10th at 11am and 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old, and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

"Let Me Entertain You" (July 12th-16th) is a musical theatre camp with an emphasis on Broadway classic, asking kids to explore the classics that the musical theatre of Broadway has to offer. Campers will spend the week singing, dancing and showcasing their talents with a chance to join Rob Dorn in a professional performance on the Skokie Theatre Stage. This one week camp will meet Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm, with a showcase scheduled during the camp day. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old, and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

"Broadway Rocks!" (July 19th-23rd) is a musical theatre camp with an emphasis on the 1950's Pop and Rock music of Broadway. Campers will immerse themselves in the styles of 1950s Pop/Rock Musicals and showcase their talents as they sing and dance their way to the top of the charts with a chance to join Rob Dorn in a professional performance on the Skokie Theatre Stage. This one week camp will meet Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm, with a showcase scheduled during the camp day. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old, and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

"Choose You Own Fairytale Adventure!" (July 26th-August 20th) asks kids to write their own play and put it on stage. Campers will create their own fairytale characters and work with our professional staff to write an original musical that will be produced on the Skokie Theatre stage. The camp will be Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. Campers will be in performances on Friday, August 20th at 5pm and Saturday, August 21st at 11am and 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old, and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

"Golly Gee Glee" (August 15th-20th) is a show choir camp for teens. Campers will spend an exciting week singing, dancing and learning the mechanics of show choir by putting together and performing an entire competition-style show. Participants should prepare to work hard, be proud and form tight bonds that only the jazz hands, ripples and blades of show choir can create. This camp is intended for middle and high school aged youth between the ages of 11 to 18 years old. This one week camp will meet Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm, with performances on Friday, August 20th at 5pm and Saturday, August 21st at 10am and 1pm.

"Cinderella" and "Choose Your Own Fairytale Adventure" are both $695 per camper. "Let Me Entertain You!" and "Broadway Rocks" are both $195 per camper. "Golly Gee Glee" is $250 per camper. About Jacque Lueken

Jacque Lueken, the Executive Director of Three Cat Education, and is teaching the majority of the classes available. She worked with Apple Tree Theatre in their youth programming as a Director with TYA at Apple Tree Theatre ('The Giver' - 2008; 'Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry' - 2009), Camp Director for Summer on Stage (2008 & 2009), Director with EBPAW ('Bridge to Terabithia', 'Jungle Tales') and was an EBPAW Teaching Artist. She received her BFA in Acting from Syracuse University and, upon graduation moved to Chicago to work with Steppenwolf Theatre Co as the Asst Coordinator for their summer acting intensive The School at Steppenwolf. Since being in the city, Jacque has served as the Education Assistant for Victory Gardens Theatre and Education Coordinator at Emerald City Theatre Co. She has worked as a teaching artist with numerous companies in the Chicagoland Area including Emerald City Theatre Co, the American Mosaic Project with American Theatre Company and After School Matters. She has also served as a Mentor with Redmoon Theatre Co's Dramagirls Program and a Director ('It's a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play') and Teaching Artist with Noble Fool Theatricals Performing Arts Academy.
