The story of the hotel is one of undeniable charm, an introduction by Potter Palmer's former business partner, Marshall Field, sparked the engagement of Potter & Bertha that led to perhaps one of the most extravagant wedding gifts of all time - the Palmer House Hilton. The historic lobby is a living symbol to their romantic tale. From the 24-karat gold Tiffany statues to the magnificent ceiling of Grecian frescoes by French muralist Louis Pierre Rigal, which has been restored to its original grandeur. The 21 paintings that span the enormous two- story lobby depicts images of classic romance including the birth of Aphrodite, Apollo in pursuit of Daphne and Pluto on his quest to marry Persephone, the daughter of the Demeter, the goddess of the harvest.

For Valentine's Day, couples have the opportunity to dine in one of Chicago's most legendary spaces, the Palmer House's Empire Room. The Empire Room opened in 1925 as an elegant dining room and quickly became one of Chicago's legendary "hot spots." The Night of Romance continues this tradition with the elegance that identified the Empire Room as a premiere cafe? society nightclub. The room's glamorous design can immediately be seen as a staircase inspired by the Paris Opera leads directly from the lobby of the Palmer House to the Empire Room. The 20th century's great entertainment luminaries from Tony Bennett to Carol Channing have all performed there. Sam Fazio will be enriching the already romantic atmosphere with his music styling and the menu for the evening will include:
