Theatre At The Center's GET IN THE GAME - A Special Kids' Broadway Musical Theatre Workshop To Run 7/20 - 7/31

Theatre at the Center, recognized for bringing exciting, fun and educational productions and opportunities, announces a special musical theater workshop geared towards children ages 8 through 11.  From start to finish, children will learn all aspects of putting on a musical, from auditioning to designing to performing.  Theatre at the Center (1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana) will close the workshop with a special sports musical, Get In The Game, featuring the hard work of all of the students.  Space is filling up quickly so early registration is highly recommended.

The workshop will run from July 20 through July 31, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Get In The Game will be performed on August 1.  Get In The Game, is a fun and educational sports musical, featuring songs that include Havin’ a Ball, You Gotta Use Your Head and I’m a Champion.

Through acting, singing and choreography, students will learn to use their bodies and voices to develop a strong characterization.  The workshop will teach students the element of theatrical design and they will create and build costume and set pieces.  The workshop will be instructed by musical theater instructor and director Peter Vamvakas.

Peter Vamvakas has been a musical theater instructor and director with the Northbrook Illinois Park District for 10 years and at Apple Tree Theatre for two years. He has appeared on stage at Theatre at the Center, Chamber Opera Chicago, Shakespeare on the Green, Illinois Theatre Center, NB Musical Theatre for Young Audiences and Apple Tree Theatre among others. His television credits include appearances on the Discovery and History Channels and the Animal Planet network.

Founded in 1991, Theatre at the Center is a year-round professional, equity theater at its home, The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana. Theatre at the Center is conveniently located off I-80/94, just 35 minutes from downtown Chicago.
