"DANDRIDGE" This exceptional Urban Broadway Stage Play is inspired by Dorothy Dandridge life and career. It spans from her childhood career with her sister, to her adult singing career as the trio, The Dandridge Sisters, to the movie (Carmen Jones) which she was nominated for an Oscar, to her marriages and untimely death.
Dorothy Dandridge came to fame when she was the first African American woman to be a presenter at the Academy Awards as well as nominated for an Oscar for best actress.
Dorothy Dandridge was a singer, dancers and an exceptional actress. The raw talent of the writer, Gevell Wagner and the diverse, gifted hand-picked performers will have you moving through an emotional rollercoaster of the highs and lows of her life.
Dandridge- Urban Broadway Stage Play production is distinctive in its own right. With a combination of the lights and glam of Off-Broadway shows to the melodrama of musical theatre this production will have you singing alone at one moment, to laughter and tears another moment. This show also gives an opportunity for the urban community to actual watch a Broadway show for a reasonable price. Supporting this production will lead us to our ultimate goal, which is to get a limited week run on Broadway.
The three day performance will be held at The Vittum Theater, a beautiful 299 seat contemporary theater; 1012 N. Noble Street. Chicago Illinois 60642. The dates of performances are Friday, June 22nd, Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday matinee June 24th 2018. Tickets are $35.00 general seating.
