The Scooty & JoJo Show returns to Metro on June 1, 2012, with the benefit concert Space Invasion. Expanding last year's Alien-meets-Queen-meets-Battlestar Fantastica spectacles with Chicago's newest choir and an inter-species dance party, Space Invasion is a celebration of sci-fi cinema and space rock. Proceeds from the event go toward The Scooty & JoJo GoGo Legit Campaign, securing legal council and licensing rights for Scooty & JoJo creations.
After five record-setting appearances at Metro last year, the band and performers assembled for Scooty & JoJo's Alien-inspired tribute to Queen are back. Exploding the huge harmonies of the iconic anthem rock is the debut of Chicago's new 30-member choir under the direction of bandleader Nicholas Davio and The Scooty & JoJo Show's Jonny Stax. Performer Ryan Lanning returns to channel Sigourney Weaver's steely glare and Freddie Mercury's soaring vocals while Scooty's massive alien queen drops her abundance of eggs over the rapturous crowd. Throughout the evening, choreographer and Battlestar Fantastica curator Jyl Fehrenkamp interweaves outrageous sci-fi-infused dance, comedy, and daring-do. The live concert transforms into a DJ-hosted dance party at 11pm. Fans are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite extra-terrestrials and represent their species, transforming Metro into an impromptu intergalactic United Nations.
Space Invasion is a full-frontal assault of facemelting guitars, facehugging puppets, soaring harmonies, exploding spacecrafts, Cylons and nylons and surprises galore.
