Descended from the Old English sele, or "hall", the word SALON has come to mean a gathering designed to entertain and enlighten (from BUST magazine). The events reached their "apogee" during the 17th and 18th centuries in French aristocratic homes. There were rich and plenteous foods, there were games and glamour, music to engage in and these events were of course also "binges of bon mots, banter and verbal and artistic prowess, intellectual orgies." Salons were incubators of ideas that started with conversations.

It is with that spirit in mind that The Plagiarists present their annual Creative Salon This season's Salon, Salon 45: TIME - The Beginning and the End of Everything, takes place at what has become The Plagiarists' Salon home, the Black Rock Pub, on October 17 and 18. Admission is FREE.

The gathering of artists offers work that spans genre and influence. They share pieces inspired by the theme of TIME. If you have ever thought about how little time you have left in a day, or how much time you have to wait, if you have ever reminisced about times gone by, or contemplated what might transpire with time, if you have counted minutes or day dreamed away hours, then this SALON, curated by Plagiarist company member Sara Jean McCarthy, is the perfect way to spend your TIME this Monday or Tuesday.

This seasons event features the talents of: Jodie Aranas, Jeff Auerbach, John Byrnes, Christina Casano, Nathan Cotter, Kim Z Dale, Kara Davidson, Stephanie Douglass, Jeff Duhigg, Nick Freed, Sarah Goldstein Sharpe, Kristin Idaszak, Jackie Jasperson Klindera, Morgan Lord, Clare Nolan, Mary O'Connor, Ellenor Riley-Condit, Kit Ryan, BrIan Sharpe, Laura Shatkus, Julia Stemper, Stacy Stoltz, Eileen Tull, Jessica Wrigth Buha

Pieces that will be shared include: Explorations of Friendships through Text Messages over Time, Voices of Mothers of Different Aged Children, Creating our Own Time Capsule Letters, Ted Talk About Losing Track of Time, Haunting Run-Down Songs About Memory, Recorded Conversations with a Parent to Connect, Time-Travel, SPACE TIME TRAVEL, The Fantasy of Having ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD, Growing Up, Doing Things for the First Time, Being Held Accountable for the Time we Spend. All pieces told in various monologues, stories, spoke word, songs, recordings, scenes, recordings, playlets, poems, music and movement.
