The Noble Fool Theatricals Performing Arts Academy invites local youth ages 6 - 19 to audition for a role in the Youth Ensemble's summer full-length production of Wizard of Oz at Pheasant Run Resort.

Open auditions will be held on the Preservation Hall Studio Stage at Pheasant Run on Saturday, May 1, from 9:00am - 12:00pm or Monday, May 3 from 4:00 - 7:00pm. No appointment is necessary.

Interested youth should prepare and memorize a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song that best displays their talent. An accompanist will be provided, so children should bring sheet music. Everyone will be taught a dance combination at the audition; previous dance training is helpful but not required. Auditionees may also be asked to do a cold reading from the script. Everyone should bring a headshot and a resume to the audition.

Prepare to be transported "over the rainbow" by one of the greatest family musicals of all time. Dorothy and Toto are on their quest along the Yellow Brick Road to see the wizard and are joined by everyone's favorite characters, including; the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and the munchkins!

"Word has begun to spread about our great youth ensemble program, and this summer we have the ability to present a full-length production while also opening up roles to a broader age range," says Education Manager Tracy Whiteside. "And we're really excited to be able to offer more prime performance times this summer, which gives them the special opportunity to perform multiple times!"

The NFT Youth Ensemble will present Wizard of Ozfor the public on the Mainstage at Pheasant Run on the following dates: July 23, July 30, August 6; Friday at 7pm, July 24, July 31, August 7; Saturday at 10:30am, July 25, August 1, August 8 ; Sunday at 7pm.

Director is Helen Buck of Lombard and Musical Director is Winfield resident Vickie Wagner. This will be the 13th NFT Youth Ensemble production, which keeps growing in size and talent with past shows such as High School Musical 1 & 2, Annie and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

The NFT Youth Ensemble is an exclusive, audition-only education program for the best and brightest young talent. Participants are responsible for memorizing lines, music and choreography. Members learn the craft of theater through the process of preparing for live performances. Youth Ensemble performances are produced, directed and performed on the Mainstage in the same manner as Noble Fool's professional Theater Productions.

The Noble Fool Performing Arts Academy is a non-profit organization. The academy features some of the Chicago area's most respected teachers, directors, actors and musicians.
