Three Cat Media presents Chicago cabaret favorites Rob Dorn and Laura Freeman in "The Judy Garland Duets" at the Skokie Theater Music Foundation on August 16th, 2009 at 2:00pm. Join this musical tour-de-force as they pay tribute to one of the top entertainers of the twentieth century and her famous duets with such luminaries as Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Mickey Rooney and many others.
Not only is this a retrospective of Garland's career, but a celebration of Garland's influence on performers. "Unlike a typical tribute show, we are assuming the Judy lovers out there know her story," says Freeman. "This is really a personal tribute. How Judy touched my life, as well as how she influenced Rob's, is the driving force of this narrative."
Songs include "A Couple of Swells," "For Me and My Gal," "Strike Up the Band" as well as rarely performed songs Judy dueted with Barbra Streisand and Mel Torme.
"There are very few performers who have reached such a diverse group of fans," said Dorn. "We are all inspired by Judy Garland. She is a national treasurer."
