The House Theatre of Chicago will present the VALENTINE TRILOGY CONCERT, a one night only benefit concert on Sunday, August 16, at 7 p.m. at the Old Town School of Folk Music (4544 N. Lincoln Ave.). Resident composer Kevin O'Donnell, Artistic Director Nathan Allen and House company members will perform music from SAN VALENTINO AND THE MELANCHOLY KID, CURSE OF THE CRYING HEART and VALENTINE VICTORIOUS along with special guests. The genre-bending Valentine Trilogy spanned three seasons and established the House's dedication to exploring the ideas of Community, Heroes, and Storytelling in order to create a unique theatrical experience for audience members.
The House Theatre of Chicago staged the critically acclaimed opening chapter of the Valentine Trilogy, SAN VALENTINO AND THE MELANCHOLOY KID, in winter 2004. Playwright and Songwriter Nathan Allen crafted an epic rock n' roll drama about a small band of cowboys who hit the open range with more than cattle herding on their minds.
In 2005 the company transported the story to feudal Japan for the much-anticipated samurai sequel, CURSE OF THE CRYING HEART.
The trilogy concluded in 2006 with the thrilling VALENTINE VICTORIOUS. Reluctant hero Elliot Dodge (Nathan Allen) took on the corrupt streets of 1930s Chicago while battling his own demons backed by the Valentine band, The Trick Hearts.
Keeping with the Old Town School of Music "philosophy that music is for everyone," tickets are only $30 and may be purchased by calling (773) 251-2195 or online at www.TheHouseTheatre.com. All proceeds from the concert benefit The House Theatre of Chicago and its upcoming Fall 2009 Season, which includes ALL THE FAME OF LOFTY DEEDS, WILSON WANTS IT ALL and GIRLS VS. BOYS.
