The House Theatre of Chicago continues its season with STAR WITNESS, opening on March 27th and running through May 7th, 2011 at The Chopin Theatre.

A small town mystery. A girl gone missing. A police scanner with no answers. A riff on The Wizard of Oz, Star Witness tells the story of Shelley, a nineteen-year-old waitress in the tiny town of Somerset, IL, hoping for something, anything to surprise her. When a local child disappears, Shelley and her foster grandmother Hazel steel themselves beside the police scanner, hoping for good news. But as tragedy begins to swirl around the town like a Kansas tornado, Shelley jumps on her bike and desperately searches the unfamiliar night to meet three unlikely companions and catch a glimpse of something that has kept its wonder.

Sean Graney comes to The House for the very first time in this exciting collaboration with Chicago writer Joe Meno, who also wrote The Boy Detective Fails for The House in 2006.

Joe Meno is a fiction writer and playwright who lives in Chicago. A winner of the Nelson Algren Literary Award, a Pushcart Prize, and a finalist for the Story Prize, he is the bestselling author of five novels and two short story collections including The Great Perhaps, The Boy Detective Fails, and Hairstyles of the Damned. He is a professor in the Fiction Writing Department at Columbia College Chicago. His theatrical collaborations have included work with The House Theatre, Redmoon Theatre, Signature Theatre, Collision Theatre, and Greasy Joan Theatre.
