The Arc Theatre expands from three successful years in residence at "Shakespeare on the Ridge" in Evanston to present the first show of its inaugural full season. The Arc's Oedipus Rex will be performed at the Chemically Imbalanced Theatre, 1422 Irving Park Rd, February 14th through March 9th, 2013, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and available at arctheatrechicago.org/seasonevents/tickets or by searching "The Arc Theatre" at brownpapertickets.com. (The Arc seeks an accessible introduction to the entire Chicago Arts Community and prices tickets accordingly.)

The Arc Theatre's Oedipus Rex explores the archetypal story through a chorus of prostitutes that inhabit a dystopian Thebes where technology is no longer financially viable and sexuality has become currency. Oedipus Rex features some of the most provocative young artists in the Chicago Arts Community. The show is directed and conceived by The Arc Theatre's Artistic Director Mark Boergers with collaboration from "The Good Night Ladies" arts collective (thegoodnightladies.com). Oedipus Rex features Aram Monisoff, Lucy Sandy, Lana Smithner, Aislinn Kerchaert, Jessica Marks, Eve Rydberg and Arc Company Member Teddy Boone as Kreon. The show's head designer is Arc Company Member Cailin Short. The show has movement direction from returning artist Dustyn Martincich, Lighting Design by Jordan Kardasz, Dramaturgy by Diego Baez and is Stage Managed by Corinne Bass.

The Arc Theatre is a young Chicago theatre company dedicated to intricate story telling and exciting artistic collaboration. Founded by Mark Boergers, Teddy Boone and Cailin Short, The Arc has spent three years co-creating "Shakespeare on the Ridge" in Evanston with the Ridgeville Parks District performing "A Midsummer Night's Dream (2010), The Merry Wives of Windsor (2011), and Romeo and Juliet (2012) and now expands to their first full season including a new works festival in January entitled ARCitext. Upcoming shows include "Twelfth Night" at Shakespeare on the Ridge in July and the original drama "The McKrell Archive" directed by Jane Drake Brody in November.
