The Arc Theatre's All-Female Production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW Opens Today

The Arc Theatre joins Ridgeville Park District's Shakespeare on the Ridge series again this summer with an all-female production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, directed by Natalie Sallee* and Teddy Boone* playing July 22nd through August 13th at Ridgeville Park, 908 Seward St., Evanston. ADMISSION IS FREE. The Press Preview is Friday, July 21st at 7pm.

The Arc is proud to return for its 8th year at Shakespeare on the Ridge with the bard's comedy of courtship, family drama and falling in love for the first time. Shakespeare on the Ridge favorites Natalie Sallee and Teddy Boone helm an all-female powerhouse cast to tell this controversial Shakespeare comedy through a fresh, fun and unexpected lens.

Seating is first come, first served we suggest audience members arrive early. Audience can bring a picnic dinner to enjoy during the performance, and may bring their own chairs/blankets (some seating is provided.) Natalie Sallee* is the Director of New Works for The Arc Theatre. She enjoys performing, directing and producing for The Arc, as well as other local theatre companies in the Chicago-land area. Next up, she is directing a production of The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow with Spartan Theater opening in January of 2018. Natalie was last seen on stage as M'Lynn in Steel Magnolias directed by Arc Theatre Artistic Director, Mark Boergers. Other roles she's played include Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Joyce in Top Girls, The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, and Leonata in Much Ado About Nothing. Natalie received her B.A. in Acting from Ball State University and her M.F.A. in Acting from The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

Teddy Boone* is a Co-Founder and Associate Artistic Director of The Arc Theatre, as well as the Director of Casting. This is his eighth year with Shakespeare on the Ridge, and he has been involved in every production with The Arc since its inception in 2010. Other Chicago credits include work with Chicago Shakespeare, Goodman, Remy Bumppo, Collaboraction, 16th Street, and Theo Ubique. He currently attends graduate school at DePaul University.

About Shakespeare on the Ridge Now in its 8th Season, Shakespeare on the Ridge was created through collaboration between The Arc Theatre's Artistic Director Mark Boergers and Ridgeville Parks District (then) Program Director Michael Miro in 2010 with the goal of bringing professional quality theatre to the Ridgeville and Evanston community. In eight years, "Shakespeare on the Ridge" has expanded from a one weekend event to a four-weekend festival of specially-tailored performances, including a selection from Evanston's Mudlark children's theater company. The Arc brings professionally trained artists from the Chicago theatre community to create these one-of-a-kind experiences each summer. "Shakespeare on the Ridge" has become a fixture for audiences from all over the Evanston and Chicago-land area, who wish to enjoy high quality art in a relaxing and fun setting.
