The Spaniels, Willie Rogers of The Soul Stirrers and Stormy Weather come together at City Winery for the Chicago premiere of The Signal. Direct from standing-room only sellouts in the Midwest, this new musical revue is a true story told in narrative and song by a star-studded cast at 45 rpm. The Signal: A Doo Wop Rhapsody "transmits" Monday, March 9, 8 p.m. at City Winery Chicago, 1200 W. Randolph.

Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer Award winners The Spaniels, ("Goodnight Sweetheart," "Baby It's You," "Peace of Mind"), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Willie Rogers of The Soul Stirrers ("A Change is Gonna Come," "Chain Gang," "If I Had a Hammer") and the nation's premier a cappella group Stormy Weather ("Sweets for my Sweet," "Sh-Boom," "For Your Precious Love") star in the live musical, The Signal. A true story in narrative and song is a reminiscence of radio, steel mills, family, gangs and, most importantly, Gary, Indiana's Vee-Jay Records. The first female Black-owned label that landmarked the Blues, pioneered R&B, triggered the Four Seasons (which ultimately led to the Jersey Boys), introduced the Beatles to America, was the role model to Motown and heavily influenced home-towners, The Jacksons.
