Genesis Ensemble, a Chicago theater and performance company, has announced the extension of The Rest Unknown: how to live and how to die tours until April 6.

The company have taken over three storefronts in Jefferson Park to lead the curious on a tour of art, performance, bundt cake and more. The evening is inspired by Maira Kalman’s idiosyncratic book The Principles of Uncertainty. The tour of whimsy and wonder suggests what might happen if we all took life a bit slower and relished in the particulars of the world around us.

Chicagoans with fond memories of many winter hours marveling at the Art Institute or discovering neighborhood details on summer afternoon walks have the chance to relive their halcyon days with this production.

About the show: "The space inhabited on each step of the tour is alternatively airy and light or cheerfully curated chaos. The transforming storefronts offer a dance studio, a gallery featuring work of local artists, a cozy nook of maps, a exhibit of personal collections (including a collection of audience members’ voices that is simultaneously uploaded to tumblr), an afternoon tea party, and a few more surprises along the way. The mood-matching stories told stream-of-consciousness by performers, feels conversational much like the inspiration for this project."

Directed by Libby Hladik, née Ford, The Rest Unknown is playing March 16 – 31, 2012 with Friday tours beginning at 8 PM and Saturday tours beginning at 1, 3, and 5 PM. Extension is April 2, 5, and 6 at 8:00 PM.

The Rest Unknown tours at 5344 West Lawrence Avenue which is conveniently located one block west of Milwaukee and Lawrence; available by the Blue Line and the Lawrence and Milwaukee buses.

Space is limited (12 per tour). Tickets should be booked in advance through Brown Paper Tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/224711.
