Fred Anzevino, Director of Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's first production of the season, The Lady's Not for Burning, sees this play as a musical or operetta without the song and dance numbers because of its poetic qualities. Produced in association with Michael James, the director's role is funded by The Saints of Chicago.
Set in the middle ages, it is a romantic comedy written in verse by Christopher Fry in 1948, resembling Shakespeare's pastoral comedies. A discharged, disillusioned veteran wants to die and a witch doomed to the stake wants to live. The action takes place in the home of the mayor of Cool Clary.
