Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced its upcoming holiday season performances, featuring productions of The Heir Apparent, a delightfully cheeky comedy by master wordsmith David Ives, and the triumphant return of A Q Brothers' Christmas Carol. Scroll down for details!
The Heir Apparent
November 29, 2015-January 17, 2016 | CST's Courtyard Theater
by David Ives
adapted from Le légataire universel by Jean-François Regnard
directed by John Rando
Staged by Tony Award-winning director John Rando, this cheeky romp is another hilarious retooling of a classic from acclaimed playwright David Ives, creator of CST's wildly popular The School for Lies and A Flea in Her Ear. Young Eraste has it all-good looks, a beautiful fiancée and the prospect of a sizable inheritance from an elderly uncle. There's just one snag: the uncle won't die and he has bequeathed his entire fortune to someone else. Whatever will the young man do? Hilarious rhyming couplets and contemporary slang abound as seventeenth-century bawdiness is catapulted into the twenty-first.

written by GQ, JQ, Jackson Doran and Postell Pringle
developed with Rick Boynton
directed by GQ and JQ
Throw your hands up, Chicago -- the holiday treat set to a bangin' beat is back! CST and Chicago hip-hop sensation the Q Brothers -- creators of Othello: The Remix and Funk It Up About Nothin' -- turn up the volume on Charles Dickens' classic tale, mixing everything from reggae, dancehall and dubstep to epic rock ballads. Brighten your festivities with some cheeky spirit and a whole lot of heart -- complete with visits from a Jamaican Jacob Marley and that youngest of Cratchits, Lil' Tim. The Q Brothers are joined by DJ Super Nova as the ghosts of Hip-hop Past, Present and Future lead Scrooge on a journey of rhythm, rhyme and redemption.
