The Mill presents The Dress Show, a devised performance piece. The Dress Show runs for two nights Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday May 20, 20009 at 8pm at the Prop Thtr 3502 N. Elston, Chicago in the rear theatre. Run time is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes; there is no intermission.
The Dress Show is a performance inspired by the contemporary rituals that mark a woman's life and the dresses that come to emblematize those experiences. Using dresses as cultural artifacts and the starting point of our work the company created vignettes based on their experiences and the stories of women interviewed for the piece. The result blurs the line between a sketch comedy like theatricality and performance art creating an evening of unique quirky theatre.
Tickets are available at the door the evenings of performance, $15 or pay what your can www.themilltheatre.org.
The show is produced in association with The Prop Thtr. The show is partially supported by a Grant from the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in the Arts Committee at Northwestern University.
