Subtext Theater Company (STC) has begun a campaign with St. Baldrick's to raise $1951.00 for childhood cancer cures to coincide with their newest production the world premiere of STC playwright Leigh Johnson's play, A BUMP ON THE LEG. This play is the biographical retelling of an event from the life of Chicago resident and Irish immigrant James Mallon. Raised in Northern Ireland, the young Jimmy Mallon was diagnosed with bone cancer in his leg. STC choose the amount goal of $1951.00 as Mr. Mallon was diagnosed and treated in the year of 1951.
St. Baldrick's was first conceived in 1999 and the first event was held in 2000 on St. Patrick's Day. Today volunteers reach new heights, making possible more than $326 million in research grant funding since 2005. STC will continue to promote their contribution page for the entire run of their production closing on April 16th. Additionally, they will have donation submission forms in the lobby for anyone that wishes to send in a donation via check.
