Steppenwolf's LookOut Series Announces Christine Ebersole with Seth Rudetsky

Steppenwolf's LookOut Series and Mark Cortale are pleased to present Christine Ebersole with Seth Rudetsky as pianist and host. The one-night-only event takes place Monday, July 30, 2018 at 6:30pm in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted).

Two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole performs at Steppenwolf for one night only alongside Sirius XM Radio host and creator/star of Broadway's Disaster! Seth Rudetsky as pianist and host. This unscripted evening will be a seamless mix of intimate, behind-the-scenes stories of her career through insightful, funny and revealing questions posed by Rudetsky.

For more than 30 years, Winnetka, Ill. native Christine Ebersole has captivated audiences on the Broadway stage, television series and specials, films, concert appearances, and recordings. This spontaneous evening of hilarity and show-stopping songs is not to be missed.

Tickets ($79 - $150) to Christine Ebersole with Seth Rudetsky go on sale Friday, June 1 at 11am through Audience Services (1650 N Halsted), 312-335-1650 and steppenwolf.org. Anytime Members and Holiday Card Members can use a credit on a $79 seat in the balcony, and all other Black Card credits can be redeemed, but Black Card Members must pay the difference. Christine Ebersole starred most recently on Broadway in War Paint in her Tony nominated role as Elizabeth Arden, opposite fellow Tony nominee Patti LuPone as Helena Rubinstein. She originated the role when the musical premiered in Chicago at The Goodman Theatre. Ebersole won her second Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, as well as virtually every Off-Broadway award, for her "dual role of a lifetime" as Edith Beale and Little Edie Beale in Grey Gardens. The critically acclaimed musical was nominated for a total of ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the CD recording was nominated for a Grammy Award. This past February she made her LA Opera debut as the Old Lady in Francesca Zambello's production of Candide conducted by James Conlon. Her extensive Broadway career also includes her Tony Award-winning performance as Dorothy Brock in the hit revival of 42nd Street, in addition to leading roles in On the Twentieth Century, Oklahoma, Camelot, Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Steel Magnolias, the recent revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, and Dinner at Eight for which she received both Tony and Drama Desk Award Nominations. Concert appearances include the concert version of the opera The Grapes of Wrath at Carnegie Hall, the San Francisco Symphony's tribute to Leonard Bernstein, the Boston Pops' concert version of A Little Night Music, and PBS concerts Gershwin at 100: A Celebration at Carnegie Hall and The Rodgers & Hart Story: Thou Swell, Thou Witty. In addition to her acclaimed stage career, Christine Ebersole has also appeared in numerous hit films such as Amadeus, Tootsie, Richie Rich, Black Sheep, Dead Again, Folks!, Ghost Dad, True Crime, My Girl 2, Mac and Me, and Confessions of a Shopaholic. Her television credits include appearances on Retired at 35, Royal Pains, Ugly Betty, Law and Order SVU, Boston Legal, Samantha Who, Will and Grace, The Nanny, Just Shoot Me, Murphy Brown, Ally McBeal, Valerie, Ryan's Hope, One Life to Live and The Colbert Report.

Seth Rudetsky is the afternoon host on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio's On Broadway as well as the host of Seth Speaks on Sirius/XM Stars. As an author, he penned My Awesome/Awful Popularity Plan and the sequel The Rise And Fall Of A Theater Geek (Random House) as well as three volumes of Seth's Broadway Diary featuring inside scoop and hilarious stories from all of the stars he's worked with. He co-wrote and co-starred in Disaster! (New York Times "critics pick") last season on Broadway, which also premiered to rave reviews in London's West End. In June 2016, he and his husband, James Wesley, co-produced a recording of What The World Needs Now with stars like Idina Menzel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Carole King and Audra McDonald which went to number one on iTunes and raised $100,000 for the Orlando shooting victims (and is still raising money. Visitor Information

Steppenwolf is located at 1650 N Halsted St near all forms of public transportation, bike racks and Divvy bike stands. The parking facility ($12 or $14, cash or card) is located just south of our theater at 1624 N Halsted. Valet parking service ($14 cash) is available directly in front of the main entrance starting at5pm on weeknights, 1pm on weekends and at 12noon before Wednesday matinees. Remaining 2017/18 Season
Now playing through June 2 in the Downstairs Steppenwolf Theatre is The Doppelgänger (an international farce) by Matthew-Lee Erlbach, directed by ensemble member Tina Landau, which exposes the personal greed behind first-world exploitation; followed by Guards at the Tajby Rajiv Joseph, a story about the search for beauty in desperate circumstances (May 31 - June 22, 2018) directed by ensemble member Amy Morton who returns to direct the cast from the acclaimed Off-Broadway production; and closing out the 2017/18 Season is The Roommate by Jen Silverman, directed by Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad (A Raisin In The Sun, Tracy Letts's August: Osage County). In The Roommate a comically mismatched pair of roommates leads to a surprising and touching friendship (June 21 - August 5, 2018).

Front Bar: Coffee and Drinks

Connected to the main lobby is Steppenwolf's own Front Bar: Coffee and Drinks, offering a warm, creative space to grab a drink, have a bite, or meet up with friends and collaborators, day or night. Open Tuesdays - Sundays from 8am to midnight, Front Bar serves artisanal coffee and espresso provided by La Colombe and food prepared by Goddess and Grocer.
