Steppenwolf Theatre Company is pleased to add open captioned performances as part of its ongoing commitment to making Steppenwolf productions accessible to all patrons. Steppenwolf has partnered with c2 to present one open captioned performance for each remaining subscription show in the 2010/2011 Season.
Open captioning is a service for patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing-featuring an LED text display to the side of the stage which features the words and sounds heard during the play. The display is controlled by a captioner watching from the back of the theatre, to ensure the presentation of the text is synched live with the action onstage.
Steppenwolf's accessibility services also include:
Sign-interpreted performances for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Audio-described performances, touch tours and pre-show artistic conversations for people who are blind or have low vision.
Audio recordings of programs.
Braille and large-print programs.
