Single tickets are on sale now for the 2018-19 Harris Theater Presents season, a roster that includes music and dance artists of the highest caliber dedicated to preserving artistic lineage, reimagining classical works, and embarking on innovative, multi-disciplinary collaborations.
The 2018-19 Mainstage season features the return of the beloved Miami City Ballet in a mixed repertoire program; the Chicago debut of Opera Atelier, one of the leading interpreters of French baroque opera; The King's Singers in their 50th Anniversary GOLD tour; Ragamala Dance Company's Written in Water, melding classical Bharatnatyam dance with live music by Amir ElSaffar; the exclusive US presentation of English National Ballet in Akram Khan's Olivier Award-winning Giselle; a first-time collaboration between African music icons Angélique Kidjo and Ladysmith Black Mambazo; Gauthier Dance's MEGA ISRAEL with three works by celebrated Israeli choreographers; and Transfigured Nights, an evening of chamber works performed by four visionary musicians.
The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center returns for its eighth season in residence at the Harris. The 2018-19 series will include a special recital by CMS Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han; a program connecting the 18th century violinist-composer Rodolphe Kreutzer to the 20th century masters Prokofiev and Janá?ek; the return of Bach's complete Brandenburg Concertos; a crowd-pleasing all-Mozart program; and an emotional season finale that includes Samuel Barber's Dover Beach and Ernest Bloch's first piano quintet.
The Theater's popular Mix at Six series returns with five performances by artists representing five different countries: British-Bahraini trumpet player Yazz Ahmed blends jazz and electronic sound design; Pablo Sáinz Villegas brings Spanish guitar tradition with a fresh approach; Montréal-based Cirque Éloize offers their signature brand of contemporary circus in Saloon; Afro-Cuban vocalist Daymé Arocena is a powerhouse presence; and the Chicago Academy for the Arts Repertory Dance Company showcases the next generation of great artists on the Harris stage.
The 2018-19 Exelon Family Series lineup will include: Opera Atelier's Making an Opera, which will introduce young audiences to the magic and drama of opera; Ragamala Dance Company's imaginative and enchanting Written in Water; and Cirque Éloize's spectacular Wild West love story Saloon. All three matinee performances will feature an informal and inclusive atmosphere for audiences of all ages and abilities.
