Short Story Theatre presents an evening of storytelling on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at Miramar Bistro, 301 Waukegan Ave., in Highwood. Tickets are $10, cash or check at the door. For pre-show dinner reservations : 847-433-1078.

On the roster for the evening are Martie Sanders and Kevin Davis of Chicago, Elizabeth Brown of Lake Forest, and Rebecca Adler of Gurnee. The show is produced by Rick Leslie of Highland Park and Donna Lubow of Riverwoods. It's a bit of a family affair, as Sanders and Davis are husband and wife, and Davis will be presenting a story written by his father, novelist Marc Davis of Gurnee.

Actress Martie Sanders will share a story entitled "In Sickness and in Health" about auditioning for a role while she was ill. As she says, "Hi-diddle-dee-dee, an actor's life for me!"

Marc Davis' story "There Was No News in the Fort Bliss News," presented by Kevin Davis, is about journalism in the Army, where freedom of the press does not apply.

Rebecca Adler recalls how she escaped the college dormitory stench and found a supposedly better place to live in her story "Transient."

In her story "Last One Picked" Elizabeth Brown reminisces about the agonies of grade school whether you were picked last or were the one doing the picking.
