16th Street Theater announces its Season Five 2012: Love, Faith and the Unknown at its Sneak Peek Season Preview on Saturday, December 3 from 5:00 - 6:30 PM at Berwyn Cultural Center, 6420 16th Street in Berwyn. This is a FREE event with wine, desserts and excerpts from plays by Eric Pfeffinger, Tanya Saracho, Will Dunne, Julie Ganey, Tony Fitzpatrick and Arlene Malinowski.
Did we miss it? When the new Millenium occured, what happened to our spirit? Did we become too engrossed in fear to see a new vision, a new way? 2012; some say it's the end of the world. Some say the beginning of a new era.
We say we're all in this together... may as well enjoy the ride!
Our pursuit can't simply be economic in nature. We are more than that, aren't we? In our Season Five we explore love and faith through the unknown. Devoting ourselves to intellectual and imaginary pursuits. And a whole lotta love.
SEASON FOUR 2012 - Love, Faith and the Unknown
ACCIDENTAL RAPTURE
by Eric Pfeffinger
January 12 - February 19 Press Open Jan 19
Directed by Kevin Christopher Fox
A comedy about faith, friendship and the end of the world.
Richard and Kim believe in God. Amy and Paul don't. So when they all get together to hang out the same weekend the world happens to end, things get kind of awkward. "Eric Pfeffinger's remarkable new play is a revelation in more ways than one...an original, brilliantly intelligent and laudably ambitious new script." -- Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune
ENFRASCADA: A Hoodoo Comedy of Jarring Proportions
by Tanya Saracho
April 5 - May 12 Press Open April 12
Directed by Keira Fromm
When a terrible split turns Alicia's world upside down, she turns to Folk Magic to heal her suffering. With the help of her friends and some enchanting magi, Alicia mines the underworlds of Brujeria, Santeria and Hoodoo for magic recipes, age-old traditions and ancient jar spells looking for a cure. Based on real and extended exchanges with practitioners of each craft, Enfrascada explores one of the best-kept secrets in the Latino community. From the author of Kita y Fernanda and Our Lady of the Underpass.
ALL KINDS OF CRAZY
written and performed by Arlene Malinowski
author of What Does the Sun Sound Like and Aiming for Sainthood
