SEVEN HOMELESS MAMMOTHS WANDER NEW ENGLAND Opens at DePaul University

The Theatre School at DePaul University is pleased to present Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England, written by Madeleine George and directed by April Cleveland (MFA Directing candidate, Class of 2019) in the Sondra & Denis Healy Theatre. The production premieres on Friday, October 20, and runs through Sunday, October 29, 2017. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on October 18 and 19 at 7:30 PM. Post-show discussions will follow the performances on October 22 (2:00 PM) and October 26 (7:30 PM).

About the production: Set in a typical college town, Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England follows the narrative of the Dean, her young girlfriend, and her ex, who all share anything but a "typical" relationship. When the Dean motions to shut down the town's rarely frequented but beloved museum, conflict arises and forces the women to work through their differing ideas about academia, life, and love.

Tickets are $15, preview tickets are $10, and student tickets are always $5. Tickets are available online, or by calling the Box Office at 773.325.7900. Subscriptions and group rates are also available. Members of the active military and their families can receive a discount with a valid ID.

The Theatre School at DePaul University is located at 2350 N. Racine Avenue (at Fullerton). The school is easily accessible via the Fullerton CTA Station and the Fullerton (74) Bus. The cast features Matthew Elam (The Caretaker), Isabelle Jennings (Andromeda), Mira Jugade (Dean Wreen), Sola Thompson (Greer), Nick Trengrove (Early Man 1), and Garrett Young (Early Man 2).

The production team includes April Cleveland (Director), Torrey Meyer (Scenic Designer), Olivia Preye (Costume Designer), Andrei Borges (Lighting Designer), Madeline Doyle (Sound Designer), Rachel Perzynski (Dramaturg), and Nick Nyquist (Stage Manager).

April Cleveland (Director) is a director and theatre educator from Los Angeles currently pursuing her MFA in Directing at DePaul University, where she recently directed Dying City by Christopher Shinn and Janes: A Prologue by Emily L. Witt. Before moving to Chicago, April served as the Artistic Director of Urbana Theatre, an award-winning summer musical theatre company for performers ages 9-18 in Urbana, Illinois. Directing credits with Urbana Theatre include Annie, The Sound of Music, Once Upon a Mattress, Anything Goes, and Lucky Stiff. For Urbana, she produced a devised theatre program for very young performers, ages 5-9. April studied acting at The Strasberg Institute in Hollywood and holds a dual degree in philosophy and the history of mathematics and science from St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico (2015). In Santa Fe, she directed Phenomenology of Puppet, an original movie musical about philosophy featuring a team of hand puppets. She has directed her own adaptations of W.E.B. DuBois's The Souls of Black Folk and Dostoyevsky's The Brothers Karamazov.
