The world premiere production of Scarlet Sisters Everleigh, now playing at the Berger Park Coach House through November 29, explores the scandalous lives of the Everleigh Sisters, the famous madams from the legendary southside Chicago brothel, the Everleigh Club. Through the use of four-part harmony, Gary Gimmestad, composer and arranger, has incorporated music from the time period to help tell the story of Chicago's Levee District.

"When I was introduced to the story of the Everleigh Club it was very much like opening a box in a hidden corner of an attic," states Gimmestad. "It's been most interesting and rewarding to discover new layers of meaning as these tunes are sung by the prostitutes and reformers of Chicago's gaslight-era Levee District. And it's been a delight to watch this terrific ensemble bring it to life!"

Songs arranged for the show include "Shine on Harvest Moon", "Dear Midnight of Love", "Onward Christian Soldiers", "America the Beautiful", and more. Gimmestad has also composed an original rag inspired instrumental piece called "The Everleigh Club Rag".

Gimmestad, based in Minneapolis, returns to Three Cat Productions after musical directing and arranging the hit musical review Hang Your Hat at Mister Kelly's which played to sold out audiences in May 2014. Gimmestad has also performed and toured as pianist and music director for a number of shows including Ain't Misbehavin', 1940s Radio Hour, Little Shop of Horrors, Forever Plaid and many others. He recently launched his own business (Dal segno Music Services, LLC) which offers music preparation services as well as instruction in Finale music notation software.

Scarlet Sisters Everleigh is set in New York City. Ada and Minna, former Everleigh Club madams, are struggling to enjoy their retirement. As a reporter starts to pry into the sisters past, their wall of secrets begins to crack. Funny, poignant, and sad, the Scarlet Sisters Everleigh is peek into the scandalous Chicago Levee District of the early 1900s. The cast includes Katherine Bellantone, Jamie Birkner, Baird Brutscher, Tim Steinmetz, Shaina Summerville, Ann Marie White and Sheila Willis.

The show is written and directed by Jason Paul Smith, Three Cat Productions, Artistic Director. Resident Stage Manager is Jess Koster. Resident Lighting and Set Designer is Pat Henderson.
