Raue Center For The Arts is excited to welcome The Crystal Lake Strikers All-Star Drumline for "An Evening of Percussion" at 7 p.m. on February 23, 2019. Returning for an amazing 10th performance, this community fundraiser is always a sell-out!
"We are so proud to welcome The Crystal Lake Strikers back to Raue Center for the 10th year," says Raue Center Executive Director, Richard Kuranda. "The group has represented Crystal Lake well over the years and always brings a great line-up and awesome sounds to the stage," he continues. "It's always great to see the kids performing on stage with the main drumline."
The Crystal Lake Strikers All-Star Drumline leads multiple groups of outstanding musicians from all over the region, including the Convergence Winter Guard, Girls on the Drum, the Crystal Lake Thunder, The Kingpins and more to present a high-energy night of percussion. The Crystal Lake Strikers will also award a local high school drummer with the Tim Althoff Memorial Scholarship and the William Laskey Scholarship during the fundraiser.
The Crystal Lake Strikers was formed in the fall of 2007, when three area men sat in a local coffee shop imagining the possibility of forming a drumline that would achieve the essential goals of providing a performing outlet for drummers of college age and beyond as well as supporting and educating aspiring young musicians.
In assembling the group, the founders of The Crystal Lake Strikers discussed the simple fact that there are so many people who started playing percussion at a young age, stayed with it through various school bands and drum corps and were then left with no way to continue playing as they grew older due to a lack of outlets. The Crystal Lake Strikers provides these individuals with a rare outlet for musical training beyond high school and college. This Crystal Lake favorite is sure to be a sell-out! Tickets start at $10 and may be purchased online at rauecenter.org or via the Box Office at 815.356.9212 or at 26 N. Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.
