Random Acts Announces MONKEYS Cast

Artistic Director Bryan Renaud is proud to announce the cast of Random Acts' second production, Monkeys by James Comtois. The Chicago Premiere will be directed by Dennis Henry and will play at Let Them Eat Chocolate, 5306 N. Damen Ave on July 31st and August 1st at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from the Random Acts website: www.RandomActsChicago.com.

Monkeys tells the story of several young adults gathering in a 24-hour coffe shop that serves as both a haven and a prison. The comedy about the comforts and horros of over-caffienation is described as Waiting for Godot...only Godot shows up. And they hate her.

Leading the cast is Ali Bailey, Managing Director of Random Acts. Joining her are Daniel Stompor, Wyatt Weber, Bryan Renaud, Tommy Rivera-Vega, Gracie Harper and Lucy Chmielewski.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:

Dennis Henry has an MFA in Directing from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is a member of Actors' Equity Association. He has performed in more than 40 U.S. states and regularly makes teaching a big part of his two-decade professional career. Dennis has called many places home and, for the moment, is located in Chicago where he is an Adjunct Instructor at Concordia University.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT:

James Comtois is the co-founding co-artistic director of the New York-based theatre company Nosedive Productions, and was named a "Person of the Year" by nytheatre.com in 2009. He's written over 20 plays in the past 10 years, many of which have been staged by Nosedive. The New York Times recently compared him to Conor McPherson and Tracy Letts, which he thought was very nice of the newspaper. Published plays include The Adventures of Nervous-Boy (in Plays and Playwrights 2007 by the New York Theatre Experience), Suburban Peepshow, and Infectious Opportunity (both by Original Works Publishing). Other staged plays include Colorful World, Nona (based on the short story by Stephen King, as part of The Blood Brothers present...The Master of Horror), The Little One, Otty (as part of The Blood Brothers present...FREAKS FROM THE MORGUE) and Captain Moonbeam & Lynchpin.
