Quest Theatre Ensemble will bring its visual artistry and immersive theatricality to the Alan Menken-Lynn Ahrens musical version of Dickens' A Christmas Carol. This version with music by Menken, the multiple Oscar winning composer of Disney musicals Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Newsies; and lyrics by the Tony award-winning lyricist of Ragtime, Seussical and Once on this Island, was a hit for ten consecutive seasons at New York's Madison Square Garden and was later filmed by television in a production starring Kelsey Grammer as Scrooge. Quest's production will be directed by Quest Ensemble Director Andrew Park. A Christmas Carol will run from November 20 - December 20, 2015.
Starring as Scrooge will be
Kent Joseph, who was seen by Quest audiences earlier this year as the villainous Mr. Bogs in their World Premiere musical Tomato Queen. The cast will also include Tommy Thurston,
Molly LeCaptain, Tamara Bodnar, Nicholas Hodge, Lindsay Jouett, Jomar Fererras,
Chase Peacock, Janelle Rundquist,
Stephen Garrett,
Sarah Smith, Maura Hogan and David Fieser.
Quest Artistic director Andrew Park will direct the production, with Quest ensemble member Nick Rupard creating the sort of spectacular and inventive sets, costumes and life-size puppets that have been the company's signature over its 13 seasons. Dennis Murphy will be choreographer for the musical. Also on the production team are Eric Vigo (lighting designer),
Julie Taylor (scenic artist and spot light operator), Joseph Wesoloeski (stage manager), Emily Kefferstan (production manager), and Melissa Golden (assistant stage manager).
As always, all Quest performances are free. Recommendations are recommended, though not required. Reservations may be made by calling Quest Theatre Ensemble at
312-458-0895.
