Promethean Theatre Ensemble Announces BURY THE DEAD To End 5th Season

Promethean Theatre Ensemble is proud to announce the details of the final production of their fifth season, Bury the Dead by Irwin Shaw. Irwin Shaw's 1936 masterpiece is an incendiary indictment of war. On a battlefield in the second year of thewar that is to begin tomorrow night, six dead soldiers killed in action inexplicably stand up and refuse to be buried in their graves.

The response from the military, the public and the soldiers' families is by turns horrific and heartbreaking.

Bury the Dead will be directed by Promethean Theatre Ensemble's Artistic Director Beth Wolf, who admires the play's continued relevance.

"While America continues to fight wars on multiple fronts in theMiddle East, we all wonder where the next war will surface, and at what cost," says Wolf. The show will also feature the talents of ensemble members Anne Korajczyk (Kennedy's Children, Our Country's Good) , Brian Pastor (The Last Unicorn, Measure for Measure) and new ensemble member Sara Gorsky (Spring Awakening).

The production is stage managed by ensemble member and Resident Stage Manager Sharla K. Nolte. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.Bury the Dead will run from April 22 to May 21, 2011 at The Artistic Home, 3914 N Clark Street in Chicago, with performances taking place Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Opening night will be on Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m. (the Friday April 22 performance is a preview).

There is also an added performance for the convenience of the press on Tuesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. Please note that there is no performance on Sunday, April 24 th , and there is an added 3 p.m. Saturday matinee on Saturday, May 7.

Since their inaugural production of Christopher Durang's Beyond Therapy in 2006, Promethean TheatreEnsemble has striven to bring audiences and artists together to collaborate in storytelling.
