Promethean Theatre Ensemble invites friends, theatre supporters, and Shakespeare lovers to gather on Sunday, April 22, to celebrate the birthday of William Shakespeare. The birthday party will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at The Red Lion Lincoln Square, 4749 N. Rockwell (www.theredlionlincolnsquare.com).

Partygoers will be encouraged to participate in an informal Shakespeare Open Mic, in which anyone may share his or her favorite quote, speech, or sonnet. Attendees will also be treated to a sneak peek of Promethean’s upcoming production of Shakespeare’s HENRY V. The Red Lion Lincoln Square’s traditional English pub fare and wide beer selection will be available for purchase.

Tickets are now on sale for HENRY V, running from May 5 to June 2, 2012 at The Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Performances will be Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Opening night will be on Saturday, May 5 at 8 p.m. (the Friday May 4 performance is a preview). There is also an added performance for the convenience of the press on Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through the Athenaeum at www.athenaeumtheatre.org or 773-935-6875.

Since their inaugural production of Christopher Durang’s Beyond Therapy in 2006, Promethean Theatre Ensemble has collaborated to create theatre that fuses simplicity of design with intelligent, passionate storytelling.
