Pride Films and Plays will host a party saluting its upcoming 2018-19 five-show season on August 13 at My Buddy's, 4416 N. Clark (at Montrose), beginning at 7 pm. The event will include a meet and greet with Pride Films and Plays artists, including Artistic Director Nelson A. Rodriguez and the other directors of the five plays.
The season will begin on September 5 with
Jordan Seavey's HOMOS or EVERYONE IN AMERICA, directed by Derek Van Barham. Barham's cast members Nelson A. Rodriguez and
Niko Kourtis will also be on hand at the event. The season will also include IT'S ONLY A PLAY by gay legend
Terrence McNally, directed by Jon Martinez; I KNOW MY OWN HEART by Emma Donoghue, directed by Elizabeth Swanson; SOUTHERN COMFORT, a musical by
Dan Collins and
Julianne Wick Davis, directed by
David Zak, with musical direction by
Robert Ollis and JD Caudill, and Ryan Oliveira's DESIRE IN A TINIER HOUSE directed by Rodriguez.
Cast members of Pride Films and Plays summer late night show, Joe Di Pietro's f-ing MEN, and its upcoming World Premiere of HURRICANE DAMAGE will be on hand to perform some moments from the plays and mingle with guests.
Tickets are $25.00 and will include one drink coupon and one door prize coupon. Guests can win door prizes by demonstrating their expertise in Broadway trivia and by buying additional door prize coupons for $5.00 each or 4 for $20.00. Prizes will include Bountiful gift baskets created by Estelle Chandler that will match the theme of each play.
