Pride Films & Plays is proud to announce the launch of its Great Gay Play Contest, held in conjunction with Center on Halsted. This contest seeks new plays dealing with GLBTQ history, characters or themes and relevant to the world. The five finalists will be performed as staged readings in February 2011 at the Great Gay Theater Festival hosted by Center on Halsted. The final five finalists will also receive $400. A committee of veteran theater and film professionals, including artistic directors from the United States, England and Ireland, will select fifteen semifinalists. Five finalists will then be selected and read by a final committee including Marshall W.Mason, Dan Butler, Patricia Kane, and others. International entries are encouraged. Contest fee for entries submitted between September 1 and September 30 is $30; contest fee for entries submitted between October 1 and October 31 is $45. and fostering its excellence in new works for the stage and screen. Founded in 2010, PFP recently conducted the Great Gay Screenplay Contest in conjunction with Chicago Filmmakers, and the fifteen semi-finalists will be announced August 22.
