Noble Fool Theatricals, soon to be Fox Valley Repertory in 2011, is currently accepting new play submissions for the Fox Valley Area's inaugural Summer Arts Festival to take place annually at Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage and throughout the city of St. Charles on July 14 - 31, 2011 (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; admin telephone 630-443-0438).
"We're thrilled to offer this new initiative for playwrights," says Artistic Director John Gawlik. "Our Collider 2011: New Play Project will offer a unique experience for three playwrights to work one-on-one with local scientists. By gaining insight into the viewpoint of scientists, playwrights will have the opportunity to expand their storytelling as they write a world premiere."
Playwrights are also invited to submit 10-minute new plays to be considered for the Big Bang 10 Minute Play Fest, a program to also take place during the Summer Arts Festival.
"We are looking for plays, that like the Big Bang, are inspired by the original spark, first moment of life or instance that something was created," adds Gawlik. "The play can be comedy or drama, or even science fiction."
About Collider 2011
Collider: New Play Project partners area scientists and Fox Valley Repertory to develop new works that help us better understand the universe and who we are, while illuminating and celebrating the worlds of art, science and technology.
Fox Valley Repertory is uniquely located within the Illinois Science and Technology Corridor. Illinois is the home of several prestigious national labs including one internationally renowned facility in the Fox Valley and is a Midwestern and national leader in science and technology research and development.
The plays will tap into both playwright and scientists' curiosity and desire for knowledge and human understanding. Playwrights will consult with volunteer scientists and engineers. This collaboration will allow both artist and scientist to share their personal outlook and creativity while ushering in a new play. The playwright will be invited to have their script work-shopped with professional directors and actors during the Fox Valley Rep's Summer Arts Festival, from July 14-31, 2011. Public, world premiere staged readings will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.
Potential Collider Playwrights need to submit a synopsis/outline of a play they propose to write based on our Collider mission (To help us better understand the universe and who we are, while illuminating and celebrating the worlds of art, science and technology).
Submissions for Collider 2011: New Play Project and Big Bang 10 Minute Play Fest must be made online. Specific guidelines, requirements, submission forms, and more information can be found at www.foxvalleyartsfestival.org. Questions can be sent to collider@noblefool.org.
