Pivot Arts is pleased to announce the winter line-up of its new monthly LIVE TALK Series. Part performance, part live talk show, each evening includes quirky performances, interviews, live music and the Pivot DIY, an interactive audience segment. The winter performances will be held at Uncommon Ground, 1401 W. Devon Ave. in Chicago.

LIVE TALK: We Shall Overcome

Wednesday, January 18 at 7:30 pm

The January show celebrates DR. Martin Luther King Jr. and voting rights, hosted by comedian and Second City National Touring Company Member Dewayne Perkins. Journalist Mark Guarino (Washington Post, The Guardian) interviews civil rights attorney Ryan Cortazar and activist Bella Bahhs (Let Us Breathe Collective) about voting rights issues. Jorge Silva (Goodman Theatre, Neo-Futurists) and spoken word artist Tiff Beatty share stories about access and voting, and actress and educator Quenna Barrett leads the Pivot DIY. Celebrate Dr. King's birthday and prepare for inauguration all in one week!

LIVE TALK: The Sadness Show

Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30 pm

In February, Pivot Arts' popular Valentine's Day alternative The Sadness Show returns for its fourth year! Curated by Goodman Theatre's Director of New Plays and Pivot Arts Associate Tanya Palmer, the annual "celebration of sadness" includes a sad story contest complete with sad prizes, sad music and is a despairingly good time. The full line-up will be announced shortly.

Tickets for LIVE TALK, priced at $12, are available at www.pivotarts.org/events. Doors open at 7 pm; performances begin at 7:30 pm. Food and drink for purchase.

Live Talk is an evening meant to bring us together around the arts and meaningful discussions.
