ON YOUR FEET!, the new musical based on the life story of seven-time GRAMMY winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, legendary producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan, opens its pre-Broadway World Premiere run in Chicago tonight at the Oriental Theatre.
The musical posted an announcement on Instagram today that the cast of On Your Feet! has collected $4,500 as an opening night donation for BC/EFA's BROADWAY BARES, in honor of director Jerry Mitchell, who started the show 25 years ago.
The ON YOUR FEET! team writes: "PLEASE join us for the SILVER ANNIVERSARY of BROADWAY BARES by making a contribution to our incredible Director @jammyprod who started this amazing cause 25 years ago. He donated $25,000 today in our name and only needs $10,000 to reach his goal. https:/donate.broadwaycares.org/fundraise?fcid=452942 #broadwaybares#donatenow #OnYourFeet #orientaltheater #JerryRocks."
Mitchell, a two-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer, conceived and directed the first 13 editions of Broadway Bares and has served as executive producer ever since. He created BROADWAY BARES when he was a dancer in The Will Rogers Follies.
BROADWAY BARES, the unrivaled evening of sexy striptease that benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will celebrate its 25th spectacular edition on Sunday, June 21, 2015, with BROADWAY BARES: TOP BOTTOMS OF BURLESQUE, a show inspired by the golden age of Broadway.
