Lake Forest Theatre in its inaugural season presents, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, opening October 8 and running through October 30. Managing Artistic Director Steve Malone will direct the production, along with co-director and choreographer CameRon Turner, at the newly renovated John & Nancy Hughes Theater, 400 East Illinois Rd. in downtown Lake Forest.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is equally as hilarious to the adaption of the Oscar-nominated Mel Brooks and the late Gene Wilder film of the same name. Tony Award winner and creator of Broadway hit The Producers, Brooks effortlessly transported his film to the stage with memorable tunes like "Puttin' on the Ritz". The wickedly funny comedy re-imagines the legend of Frankenstein. Lake Forest Theatre will follow along on the young, bright Dr. Frankenstein's journey as he attempts to complete his grandfather's masterwork of bringing a corpse to life. Alongside his endearing helper Igor, his curvaceous lab assistant Inga, and his self-involved fiancé Elizabeth, Frankenstein succeeds, but not without scary and often hilarious complications. The show is full of big production numbers including a hay ride and tap dancing monsters. It is definitely a performance that is fun for all ages.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN stars Nick Miller as "Dr. Frankenstein;" Edward J. MacLennan (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Monty Python's Spamalot at Stage 773) as "Monster;" Parker Guidry (RENT at No Exit Café) as "Igor;" Sarah Larson (Passion at No Exit Café) as "Inga;" Christie Burgess-Martino (CATS at Northbrook Theatre) as "Elizabeth;" Gina Guarino (Hairspray at Star Plaza Theatre) as "Frau Blucher;" Tony Calzaretta (Forever Plaid: Plaid Things at Steel Beam Theatre) as "Officer Kemp;" Jeff Joseph Lockhart as "Dracula;" Conor McGarry as "Ziggy;" and Steve Malone (Spamalot at Theatre Jedlicka) as "Hermit."
Young Frankenstein is also starring Kiah Amara, Danielle Davila, Xavier Euzarraga, Jake Ganzer, Shannon McEldowney, Megan Leigh, Sydney Sarah Stier, Wade Tischhauser, Kailey Albus, Zachary Fewkes, Sophia Kaegi, and Ashley MacDougal.
