First Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83) presents the world premiere of the witty magical comedy FOOLING BUDDHA, opening tonight, March 26, 2016 at 8:00 p.m., and running through Sunday, April 24, 2016. Director Patrick New (The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Three Musketeers, and Around the World in Eighty Days), along with creator and star David Kovac (regional productions of Lost in Yonkers, Triple Espresso, and Design for Living at First Folio Theatre) put on a one-of-a-kind show of storytelling. BroadwayWorld has a first look at Kovac onstage below!

David Kovac thrills in his new one-man show filled with myth, mystery and infinite jest. FOOLING BUDDHA tells the story of the first "American Buddhist" kid on the block in the 1970's, who learns to battle the bully with magic and misdirection. It's all honest deception, but every miracle has its price. Storytelling at its best, FOOLING BUDDHA is an enchanting blend of philosophical humor and skillful prestidigitation created by and starring a favorite performer at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Set design by two-time Jeff Award nominee Angela Weber Miller (A Moon for the Misbegotten and Jeeves in Bloom at First Folio theatre), Sound Design by Connor Wang, Lighting Design by Greg Freeman (Side Show at Porchlight Music Theatre and Laughter on the 23rd Floor at First Folio Theatre), Costume Design by Sarah Jo White (The Raid world premiere at Broadway Armory), and Stage Manager Deya Friedman.

FOOLING BUDDHA previews March 23-25, opens March 26 and runs through April 24, 2016. The regular schedule is Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. There will also be 3:00 p.m. shows on Thursday April 7, 14 and 21 and 4:00 p.m. shows on Saturday April 16 and 23. Tickets range from $29 - $39 and preview tickets are $22. Senior and student tickets are $25 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and $35 Friday through Sunday.
