The Actors Training Center at The Wilmette Theatre, 1122 Central Ave., will present THE DISAPPEARANCE OF DANIEL HAND, the first non-musical production for the teenaged actors at the ATC, tonight, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!
In this riveting play, Shannon, a young filmmaker, attempts to unravel the disappearance of a fellow high school student. By examining a series of clues he leaves behind, Shannon begins to question if Daniel - or anyone - is who they appear to be on the surface. To make ATC's storytelling that much more compelling, a live feed from Shannon's camera will be shown on the theater's screen during the play.
The young actors' journey with Daniel Hand won't end with Saturday night's final curtain call, though. Filmmaker David Singer (whose short film "Advantage Weinberg" has just been accepted to this year's Cannes Film Festival), has adapted "The Disappearance" to film which he will shoot featuring the ATC cast. Performing for film will further broaden the teenagers' acting abilities. When it is wrapped, the film will premier later this year at the Wilmette Theatre.
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF DANIEL HAND is directed by Katherine Condit Ladd, a professional actor, director and acting teacher who has appeared on Broadway as well as in many productions for such local theaters as The Goodman Theatre and Steppenwolf. The play was written by Dan O'Brien.
The 99-year old not-for-profit WilmetteTheatre is the premiere multi-arts and performance center anchoring the downtown Wilmette business district, providing vibrant entertainment, education and enrichment for the community.
