Chicago's acclaimed company of the Broadway musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee celebrated 500 performances on Sunday, July 15.  Following the performance, the cast and crew gathered to celebrate the occasion with a cake presentation and champagne toast.  The Chicago company of Spelling Bee, written by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin, continues through September 2 only.

"In the hilariously hip musical comedy, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser," state press notes.
