Chicago Folks Operetta brings the joy and magic of the operetta genre to the Chicago area this holiday season with its imaginative production of Peter and Paul in the Land of Nod. This wonderful children's holiday operetta features all of the trademark whimsical and romantic melodies that earned Franz Lehár the title "The King of Operetta." Written in 1906, it was the first operetta Lehár wrote following the success of The Merry Widow, and received wide acclaim for it's wonderful book by the longtime Lehár collaborators Robert Bodanzky and Fritz Grünbaum. Combined with Lehár's wonderful ballet music and an imaginative story, the show is a cross between Hansel and Gretel and The Nutcracker. The Chicago Folks Operetta is pleased to be presenting Peter and Paul in the Land of Nod as a fresh holiday experience which is not only an American premiere, but a world premiere of a new translation of the show by Hersh Glagov and Artistic Director, Gerald Frantzen.
