Oracle Productions Presents Termen Vox Machina
Opening June 28
After a sold-out run of Disturbed II and a 6 month hiatus for company development, Oracle Productions continues their tradition of integrating performance and technology with the Midwest premier of Termen Vox Machina, written by MDeegan. Opening June 28th at 8PM in Oracle's 38 seat storefront theater located at 3809 N. Broadway, Termen runs through August 3rd with the following schedule: Thurs-Sat at 8PM, Sun 7PM. $18 donations accepted with reservation or at the door. Press is invited to attend Saturday, June 28th at 8PM and Sunday, June 29th at 7PM.
Based on the life of Lev Termen, the famous Russian scientist, spy, and inventor of the theremin, Termen Vox Machina leads you on a fantastic journey through the Ether. MDeegan's play postulates that near the end of Lev Termen's life he successfully creates a radio device that can manipulate time and even communicate with the dead. In
Termen Vox Machina, we follow Termen on an unforgettable adventure through haunting episodes of his own past as he is compelled to search for the source of a mysterious voice heard deep within his machine. Seemingly unable to change his past life of love and espionage, Termen is ultimately left with resounding regret. Inspired by serial radio dramas such as "The Shadow",
Termen is a sci-fi radio play performed via a combination of pre-recorded soundscape, pantomime and multimedia.
Termen was originally recorded for web-cast by Los Angeles troupe Filament Theatre Company (the full recording is available at
http://
termennemret.blogspot.com ). Through a series of prolific workshops, conducted by director and interim company manager Max Truax, Oracle Productions is proud to bring their stage adaptation to Chicago for its Midwest premier this summer.
Termen Vox Machina marks Mr. Truax's directorial debut with Oracle and in Chicago.
The performance features new company members David Boren and Stephanie Polt, Oracle veteran Justin Warren, and welcomes to the stage Susaan Jamshidi, Casey Chapman, Cassandra Kaluza, David Steiger, and Carl Wisniewski as Lev Termen. Once again accompanied by the multimedia expertise of Gimpydog Productions,
Termen also showcases the talents of set designer Tyler Burke and artist David O'Brien, with make-up design by Robert-Eric West, lighting design by Mac Vaughey, and costume design by Oracle's very-own Joan Pritchard.
Termen Vox Machina is presented at Oracle Theatre located at 3809 N. Broadway from June 28th through August 3rd, 2008. Press is invited to attend June 28th at 8PM and June 29th at 7PM. Performance schedule is as follows: Thursdays through Saturdays at 8PM, Sundays at 7PM. $18 donation accepted with reservations or at the door. Industry professionals who bring a headshot and resume to Sunday performances can gain admission for $10 donation. Visit http://
