Chicago comedy group Octavarius is hosting Octavarius: The Trial of the O'Leary Cow on Sunday, October 9 at 7pm at ComedySportz, to commemorate the 140th Anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire (October 8-10, 1871).
140 years ago, Mrs. O'Leary's cow knocked over a lantern and set the city of Chicago ablaze. Justice must be served. In the shadow of the 140th Anniversary, Octavarius is holding a trial for the O'Leary cow to finally bring this villain to justice. The audience will be the jury as Octavarius gets to the bottom of this fiery mess in, Octavarius: The Trial of the O'Leary Cow.
More about this group: Octavarius is the fastest growing comedy show in Chicago, with a new and unique way to present sketches, improv and comedy music. Their current run (Sundays at 7pm at ComedySportz) totals 35 weeks and is one of the longest running independent improv shows at ComedySportz. Each show has a theme (like A Titanic of a Heartbreak: The Unsinkable Valentine's Day Show, Church-prov, Disney, etc.) that the members and audience dress up for. Videos, improv, sketches and music inspired by the week's theme come together to create a completely unique show each week.
The Monday before each show, they have a live interactive podcast, where they explore the week's theme. They also create videos, blog posts on their site Octavarius.com, music and more! The group lives and breathes comedy and is split into two apartments where they reside together.
Below is a link to a video that SHOWS all that they're about: themed improv and sketch (complete with dress-up), comedy music, videos, podcasts and more! Their fans are so loyal that they risk being caught in-transit to the show dressed to the theme to get a ticket discount and be a part of the show.
