"It is a relief to claim our love of each other and take that on as an adventure, a calling. It is a pleasure to wonder at the mystery we are and find delight in the vastness of reality that is embedded in our beings. It is a privilege to hold something robust and resilient called hope, which has the power to shift the world on its axis." -Krista Tippett
That's what we, Oak Park Festival Theatre, hope to do for and with our community each December with Midwinter's Tales.
With loving humor we refer to this annual event as a celebration of all 'the December Holidays.' " This year Belinda Bremner has once again created 75 minutes of entertainment that strives to honor equally all the ways we keep the feasts created to keep us warm and hope- filled, despite the cold and dark. Laughing and singing together are powerful antidotes to frost and fear.
Our performers are drawn from Festival Theatre actors and also our Oak Park neighbors and this year our cast age range span runs from 9 to 91.
Cast: Barbara Ballinger, Tony Dobrowolski, Alan Hommerding, Christine Kellner, Doug Kellner, Michael Lasswell, Richard Means, Charlie Meyerson, Jennifer Mitchell, Sara Nichol, Kim Osinaike, Emma Parssi, MatTy Robinson, Annika and Eve Rothbaum, Lynda Shadrake, Gwen Theis, Bob Vogler, Edwin Wald, Shanon Williams, BriAnne Wilson, Camille Wilson White and Barbara Zahora. Once again we welcome the Unity Temple Singers under the direction of the incomparable Martha Swisher.
Join us Sunday, December 11th at the beautiful Grace Episcopal Church on lake Street, Doors open at 3pm for a light reception of holiday cookies and mulled cider, and bountiful holiday baskets for your perusal. We're waiting to share our gifts of wonder with you, to find courage and comfort together.
