Production duo, Noranina Productions, successfully raises funs on Indiegogo to fund their theatrical debut with Leslye Headland's Bachelorette at Chicago's Collaboration Theatre Company.
After a vigorously successful fundraising campaign on Indiegogo, Eliza Morris and Clayton Joyner (who make up Noranina Productions) are taking the stage to tell the story of three troubled women who reunite for the wedding of a friend who was ridiculed in high school. Seeded with jealously, lost love and just a dash of whitecollar drug use, Bachelorette is a dark comedy that is as witheringly funny as it is bitterly sad. In 2012, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay produced a film of the same title starring Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan written and directed by the play's author, Leslye Headland.
After taking acting matters into their own hands, and forming Noranina Productions in 201X, Morris and Joyner-both seasoned actresses in Chicago, set out to not only to perform in the razorsharp comedy, but also to produce it. "This project has been an adventure and a welcomed learning lesson," says Eliza Morris as she dives headfirst into her first production effort. "The support for this project has been overwhelming, and I'm thrilled to be able to tell this story that so effortlessly balances the tipping point of sourness and bliss."
The production stars Clayton Joyner, Eliza Morris, Hannah Brown and Caitlin Boho and opens August 14 at Collaboration Theatre in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Directed by the epic Sandi Zielinski, Bachelorette runs through August 23, with a portion of ticket sales benefitting Sarah's Circle, a nonprofit agency located in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood with a mission of serving women who are homeless or in need of a safe shelter.
