Broadway's
Nikki Snelson, Ben D Cameron, and
Eric Stretch in collaboration with Circle Theatre Emerging Young Artists will be presenting a one day only Broadway in Chicago Cabaret on January 25, 2014 1PM at Madison Street Theatre. Tickets $20 General/$10 Students.
Nikki Snelson is most recognized for her performance of Brooke Wyndam in the original Broadway and MTV cast of LEGALLY BLONDE. She has also been seen on Broadway in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN (starring
Bernadette Peters) and SWEET CHARITY (starring
Christina Applegate). Nikki played "Cassie" in the National Tour of A Chorus Line and also performed in the Broadway National Tours of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, SHOW BOAT, HELLO, DOLLY, and
Jonathan Larson's TICK TICK...BOOM(Susan)! Snelson originated the role of The Mad Hatter in
Frank Wildhorn's Wonderland. Recently, Nikki played Velma in Chicago at Maine State Theater and Sally Bowles in Cabaret at The Napa Valley Opera House. Snelson was featured in the groundbreaking documentary EVERY LITTLE STEP as well in the major motion pictures REEFER MADNESS and ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. On the small screen, Nikki has been seen on Desperate Housewives and All My Children. She received her training in Theatre from Boston Conservatory. Nikki grew up in the St Louis area and made her professional debut at the St Louis Muny. Ms Snelson has directed, choreographed, and taught around the world. In 2012, Nikki will travel to Singapore to co direct and choreograph "Gypsy."
Eric Stretch is just finishing the making of Madonna's new music video "Give Me All Your Love" He was a part of the the biggest Broadway show in the world, WICKED- touring, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Broadway companies. Other Broadway credits are La Cage Aux Folles, and Aida. As a Member of the National recording group No Authority Eric recorded 2 albums under Maverick Record and toured all over the world opening up for artist such as
Britney Spears, 98 degrees, Destiny's Child, and Pink. Topping the charts with their hit single "Can I Get Your Number." Stretch was a huge hit at Sumemr Stars 2012 as the Intermediate Director. This fall, Eric will start work on
Frank Wildhorn's new musical "Waiting for the Moon."
Ben Cameron is a sought after writer, performer, teacher and host in New York City. Ben has appeared on Broadway in Aida and the original Broadway companies of Wicked and Footloose. His touring credits include Sweet Charity (playing opposite
Molly Ringwald), Fame-The Musical, State Fair, The Who's Tommy and Footloose. As a dancer Ben has been featured with recording artist
Kristine W, on The ESPY awards and in the inaugural seasons of Dre.Dance (
Taye Diggs/
Andrew Palermo dirs.) and The Utah Contemporary Dance Theater (now called Odyssey). As a choreographer and teacher Ben has served on the faculties of NYU's CAP21 studio and Wagner College on Staten Island. He continues to teach master classes and workshops across the country. Ben has written for the opening night gala for NYMF, Broadway's Benefit for Hurriance Relief as well as writing and directing several one person shows for Broadway vets including John
Arthur Greene,
LaQuet Sharnell and
Jessica Dillan. Ben has performed his one man show 'Different is Good' to sold out crowds in 2005 and 2010 as well as collaborative performances with singer songwriters
Katie Thompson and
Phil Putnam. Ben has hosted major theater industry events Rockers on Broadway, Defying Inequality, Broadway Sings Tori: A Benefit for RAINN and currently hosts
The Duplex's long running open mic Mostly Sondheim for which he garnered 2 MAC award nominations. Ben is also the creator/host of Broadway Sessions, a weekly theater themed variety show in Times Square. Broadway Sessions recently celebrated it's 3rd anniversary. Ben appears on the cast albums of Wicked and Footloose and is featured on the album Reach the Sky:The music of
Bobby Cronin, performing 'Dance Your Troubles Away', a song written for him by
Mr. Cronin. Ben likes most everyone. Ben is currently shooting a reality series for BBC television.
CIRCLE THEATRE EMERGING YOUNG ARTISTS is a group committed to entertaining and educating the young people of the community. Our approach to fulfilling that commitment is one of hands-on learning, exposure to the arts and artists, as well as traditional learning. CTEYA strives to present quality theatre by and for young people, educate young people through hands-on technical and theatrical experience, and teach professionalism. CTEYA is committed to giving young people opportunities in the theatre that are innovative, exciting, and groundbreaking.
Since its inception, CTEYA has produced grand musicals, intimate monologue nights, and original works while continuing to offer youth theatre classes.
The cabaret will be a performance to conclude CTEYA's 3 Day Musical Theatre Intensive. The 3 day workshop will include: audition preparation, song work, and dance training using original choreography to Wicked, Footloose, and more!
One lucky winner will get a chance to perform at host Ben D Cameron's weekly show BROADWAY SESSIONS in NYC!
BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. Broadway Sessions takes place every Thursday evening at The Laurie Beechman Theater in New York.
