You can take the girl out of the country, but can you ever really take the country out of the girl?
That is the question Minneapolis cabaret artist Nichole Carey explores in her latest production, "Girl From the North Country." An intimate evening of stories and songs, this small town girl with a big voice recalls her Minnesota roots, humble beginnings, and an even bigger dream that has helped propel her to where she is today.
Featuring musical selections by Stephen Sondheim, Alan Menken, Cole Porter, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, Justin Hurwitz, and much more. With Blake Brauer as Musical Director.
An accomplished Twin Cities vocalist, Nichole is thrilled to be making her Chicago debut at Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret. This comes fresh on the heels of her New York City debut this past April at the Duplex in the cabaret production "From Oz to Oz." She has been seen performing at many well-respected Minnesota music venues including Honey, Vieux Carré, Jazz Central Studios, and the Dakota Jazz Club. She is also a published writer, as well as a director and producer, having created and starred in several sold out musical revues at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theatre and Cabaret since 2011. She is a member of the Twin Cities Cabaret Artist Network and an alum of the prestigious International Cabaret Conference at Yale University.
"Nichole Carey is an up-and-coming cabaret singer who is capable of using her grand instrument with great subtlety....no matter what she's singing, she conveys both the heart and wit of the song" - Daniel Pinkerton, Twin Cities playwright, and lyricist.
