Midsommer Flight brings a "delightful and fast-paced outdoor production" of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Chicago this summer, with performances beginning this weekend. A new theatre collective dedicated to producing outdoor performances of Shakespeare’s plays, Midsommer Flight is proud to produce the play as an arts partner with the Chicago Park District.

“Doing Shakespeare outdoors in the summer is all about sharing joy and having fun,” says Midsommer Flight founder and Producing Artistic Director Beth Wolf. “I chose Midsummer as our first production (and the inspiration for the company name) for exactly that reason.”

All performances are presented free of charge (donations gratefully accepted). In addition, live music will begin one hour prior to each performance. The exciting musical guests are the solo guitarist and singer David Fink on August 18, the solo singer/songwriter Clare Adella on August 19, the folk duo Duck and Goose on August 25, and the solo guitarist and singer Morgan Foster on August 26. Audiences are encouraged to come early and bring a picnic to enjoy this free programming.

The play will be performed on August 18, 19, 25, and 26. The Saturday performances will begin at 6:00 PM (live music beginning at 5:00 PM) and the Sunday performances at 2:00 PM (live music beginning at 1:00 PM). The play will run approximately 100 minutes with no intermission. All performances will be located on the north side of Chicago at Touhy Park, 7348 N. Paulina Street, in the southeast grove along Paulina Street.

The play is directed by Beth Wolf. The cast features Jared Dennis, Ross Patrick Frawley, Adrian Garcia Jr., Adam Habben, Annie Hogan, Caroline Kingsley, Anne Korajczyk, Jason Markoff, Kelsey Melvin, Ken Miller, J. Preddie Predmore, Jeannie Saracino, and Stephanie Shum.
