Michele Brourman Makes Solo Debut In Chicago At Davenport's Piano Bar And Cabaret Image

2019 MAC Nominee, Michele Brourman, makes her Solo Debut in Chicago in a One Night Only performance, Sunday, September 15th at the well known Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret Show time: 7:00 PM.

A Note from Michele about her Chicago connection:

"Chicago is where so much of my musical life began. As an undergraduate at Northwestern, I co-created a musical review, "The Little Ones' ABC's, that ran for months on Rush St. After graduation, I stayed in Chicago, playing in piano bars then in jazz clubs. I was taking graduate courses at NU, but the clubs - that was where I really learned! I'd play 5 nights a week, 6 hours a night (7 hours on Saturdays!) - so I learned a LOT about playing and singing, about what makes a great song, about how to arrange and re-arrange songs so that they were always new, always fresh. Judy Roberts taught me how to play with a trio, so I got to play with some superb musicians. I got taken to several gospel churches on the South Side where my friend George Winfrey played organ - even got to sit in one day when Jesse Jackson was preaching. I think back on my "apprentice years" in Chicago with tremendous love and appreciation!

"I returned to Chicago to write dance and incidental music for a workshop of "Working," at The Goodman Theatre before we took the show to Broadway. Years later, I came back to be part of an ASCAP/Mercer Award concert, and to share an evening at Davenport's with two brilliant songwriters - Julie Gold and the late, Carol Hall. And later still, NU invited us to do a workshop followed by a full production of the musical "Dangerous Beauty" that I co-wrote with Amanda McBroom and Jeannine Dominy.

"This will be my First Time, however, singing an entire evening of my songs in the city that I've loved for decades! I'm thrilled!!"

Michele Brourman began making up songs when she was three years old. By age thirteen, she had formed a small ensemble for which she was composer, musical director and singer. She's been making up songs and singing them ever since with a joy that is infectious. Her best-loved song, "My Favorite Year", has been recorded by the Ambassador of the American Songbook, Michael Feinstein, Dame Cleo Laine, and the late singing icon, Margaret Whiting.

Come and share this very special SOLO DEBUT; an intimate evening of great songs with Award winning songwriter/singer, Michele.
Special Guest, Joanie Winter.
She will share lovely Chicago memories, some laughs and several heartfelt moments.
$15 Cover Charge plus a 2 Drink Minimum Ages 21+
