Mary-Arrchie Theater Co. has announced that on its 27th Anniversary, tonight, June 13, 2013 at 8 p.m. it will open a production of Austin Pendleton's Uncle Bob. It will run Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m.and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $25. It will be mounted at Angel Island which is at 735 W. Sheridan in Chicago, Illinois. There is parking available at the Mobil Gas station across from the theater for a price to be determined by Mobil.

Uncle Bob is a man who is diagnosed with AIDS and is being visited by his nephew, Josh. This visit is not exactly a welcome one but a necessary one as these two people need to cling together in order to give some meaning to their lives. As they jaw at one another and literally fight with each other, desperate measures are taken to actually come to a common ground where they can actually listen to one another. They find that they cannot live with each other or without each other. Uncle Bob is a story about family, love, life and truth and whatever it takes to get to that truth.

Uncle Bob is directed by Cody Estle. He is a young, up and coming director who has worked at Raven, Northlight, Writers, and Court Theaters and is a new and welcome artist to be working with Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. His directing credits include Brighton Beach Memoirs at Raven Theatre, where he is an ensemble member and previously directed Boy Gets Girl and the world premiere of Dating Walter Dante. Other directing credits include The Tooth of Crime at City Wind Theatre; The Teacher and The Phantom Corvette at The Neapolitans Theatre Company. Assistant directing credits include Stella & Lou featuring Rhea Perlman, The Odd Couple and Season's Greetings (Northlight Theatre); Amazing Grace (Goodspeed Musicals); Angels in America (Court Theatre); The Detective's Wife (Writers' Theatre); In Loco Parentis (Next Theatre); Wreckage (Caffeine Theatre) and The Cherry Orchard (Strawdog Theatre). This summer Cody will teach at Cherubs, National High School Institute at Northwestern University. He is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago.

Uncle Bob features Richard Cotovsky as Uncle Bob and Rudy Galvan as Josh. The production team includes Kiley Morgan (Stage Manager), Lukas Brasherfons (Assistant Director/Dramaturg), Andrew Hildner (Scenic Designer), Claire Chrzan (Lighting Designer), Stefin Steberl (Costume Designer), Rachel Spear (Sound Designer), and Samuel Hubbard (Fight Choreographer).
