Lookingglass Theatre's Junior Board announces the 12th Annual Madhatter's Ball, "The Madhatter's Speakeasy" to be held at Venue One, 1044 W. Randolph, on Saturday, June 1, 2013. The VIP reception begins at 8pm. The event is from 9pm-midnight with an after-party, location TBD, from 12am-2:00am.
Guests are invited to join The Madhatter at his clandestine hideaway to kick-off summer with the most unique fundraiser of the year. Enjoy cocktails, live entertainment, hors d'oeuvres, DJs, dancing, and a silent auction and raffle featuring once-in-a-lifetime prizes. So don your fedora, cloche, bowler, trilby or boater, whisper the password, draw back the velvet curtain, and enjoy a sophisticated evening of debauchery.
Attire is "chic criminal cocktail." Costumes are optional, but hats are recommended. All attendees must be 21 years of age or older.
The Madhatter's Ball is hosted by Ensemble member Anthony Fleming III and Wendy Mateo, both cast members of Big Lake Big City, premiering at Lookingglass this Summer. The event is co-chaired Tai Duncan (Junior Board President), Lindsay Knight (Junior Board Vice President of Event Production) & Cameron Croft (Junior Board Vice President of Membership).
Proceeds from the event will support the operation, expansion and outreach of Lookingglass' Education and Community programs, which encourage creativity, teamwork and confidence for thousands of community members each year.
Tickets are available for purchase at the Lookingglass box office, 312-337-0665 or online at lookingglasstheatre.org/events. Early Bird tickets (before May 1, 2013) are $75 each or $140 per pair and include the celebration at Venue One and admission to the after-party. Early Bird VIP Tickets are $125 each or $235 per pair and also include a VIP reception at 8:00 p.m. Regular tickets purchased after May 2, 2013 are $85 each or $160 per pair. VIP tickets purchased after May 2, 2013 are $150 each or $275 per pair. Virtual tables of ten tickets are also available for $700 (regular) or $1,150 (VIP).
VIP ticketholders who purchase tickets before May 1, 2013, will receive an invitation to a cocktail party the week of May 20th with Ensemble Member David Schwimmer.Silent Auction Prizes will include: Tickets to The StEve Harvey Show; tickets to The Talk in Los Angeles; luxury spa, fitness and health services; hotel stays and sports packages. The Raffle Grand Prize will be a trip to round trip business class airfare, destination TBD.

Inventive. Collaborative. Transformative. Lookingglass Theatre Company, recipient of the 2011 Regional Theatre Tony Award, was founded in 1988 by eight Northwestern University students. 2011-2012 marks the company's 25th anniversary season. Lookingglass is home to a multi-disciplined ensemble of artists who create story-centered theatrical work that is physical, aurally rich and visually metaphoric. Lookingglass has staged 58 world premieres at 23 venues across Chicago, and garnered 52 Joseph Jefferson Awards and Citations.
Work premiered at Lookingglass has been produced in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Berkeley, Philadelphia, Princeton, Hartford, Kansas City, Washington D.C., and St. Louis. Lookingglass original scripts have been produced across the United States.
The Lookingglass Theatre in Chicago's landmark Water Tower Water Works opened in June 2003. In addition to developing and presenting ensemble work, Lookingglass Education and Community programs encourage creativity, teamwork and confidence with thousands of community members each year.
Lookingglass Theatre Company continues to expand its artistic, financial and institutional boundaries under the guidance of Artistic Director Andrew White, Executive Director Rachel Kraft, Producing Artistic Director Philip R. Smith, Artistic Director of New Work Heidi Stillman, a 24-member artistic ensemble, 13 artistic associates, 11 production affiliates, an administrative staff and a dedicated board of directors led by Chairman Richard Ditton of Incredible Technologies and President Joe Brady of Jones Lang LaSalle.
